📋 The Koran Angelfish (Pomacanthus semicirculatus) is one of the most recognizable and sought-after large angelfish in the aquarium trade. Its name comes from the semicircular blue patterns on juveniles that resemble Arabic script. As they mature, the blue lines fade into emerald-green body scales edged in sapphire blue, creating a sophisticated mosaic pattern accented by a yellow-tinged tail.

This Indo-Pacific species thrives in spacious, rock-rich aquariums where it can graze on sponges and algae. While not reef safe, it makes a stunning focal fish for FOWLR (Fish-Only-With-Live-Rock) systems. The Koran Angelfish is intelligent, bold, and regal — a perfect blend of color, character, and evolution in motion.
