🐠 Bluefin Damselfish (Neoglyphidodon melas)
Marine Damselfish • Algae & Plankton Feeder • Hardy Beginner Species • Territorial Community Fish

📋 The Bluefin Damsel (Neoglyphidodon melas) is a robust marine damselfish known for its dramatic color shift from bright juvenile colors to a darker adult form. Juveniles often show yellowish bodies with contrasting blue fins, while adults become deep brown to nearly black with subtle blue edging on the fins.

A classic hardy beginner damselfish, this species adapts well to a range of marine conditions and is very tolerant of minor fluctuations, making it popular for early-stage marine systems. However, as it matures, the Bluefin Damsel becomes strongly territorial and can aggressively defend its chosen area against other fish.

Best suited to medium and larger marine aquariums with other equally robust tank mates, the Bluefin Damsel is a long-lived, active species that brings constant motion and bold attitude to the display.
