🌌 Galaxy Pleco (Leporacanthicus sp., L029)
Spotted • Large Pleco • Carnivore
📋 The Galaxy Pleco (Leporacanthicus sp., L029) is a large, striking pleco famous for its jet-black body covered in bright white star-like spots, resembling a galaxy of stars scattered across the night sky. Its long, sleek form and bold markings make it one of the most dramatic aquarium plecos.
Growing to 25–28 cm (10–11"), this species requires a large aquarium with caves, driftwood, and strong filtration. Unlike many plecos, the Galaxy Pleco is carnivorous, feeding primarily on meaty foods and sinking carnivore pellets.
While a show-stopping display fish, it can be semi-aggressive and territorial, particularly toward other plecos. Best kept either singly or with robust, fast-moving tank mates, the Galaxy Pleco is a collector’s favorite for its stunning “starry” appearance and rarity.
