This species is sold small and cute, but it is genuinely capable of reaching up to 60cm (24 inches) at full size — one of the most commonly mis-purchased fish in the entire hobby, precisely because its eventual size catches so many new keepers off guard. A minimum 75-gallon (280+ litre) tank is genuinely needed even for a juvenile, with considerably more space required as it matures. Please only consider this species with a real, concrete long-term housing plan.
 
📋 The Albino Common Pleco is genuinely distinguished by a true albino mutation, giving it a pale, near-white to pinkish body and pink eyes from a complete lack of melanin, paired with the classic robust, armored body and powerful sucker mouth of the species.
This is a genuinely effective algae grazer in its early years, helping keep glass, décor, and driftwood clean, though as it matures its diet and bioload shift considerably, and it becomes a substantial, heavy-waste-producing fish requiring strong filtration.
