📋 The Bluestripe Snapper, also known as the Blueline Snapper, Blue-Lined Snapper, or Bluestripe Sea Perch, has a genuinely striking bright yellow body marked with four to five vivid, crisp electric-blue horizontal stripes running from head to tail, with a pale white-to-pink underside and predominantly yellow fins.
Native to a genuinely enormous range spanning the Indo-Pacific, from the Red Sea and East Africa through the Indian Ocean to Hawaii and the central Pacific, this species inhabits coral reefs, lagoons, and reef slopes to depths of 265 metres.
We want to share a genuinely interesting fact: this species was intentionally introduced to Hawaii in the 1950s and has since become one of the most abundant reef fish there, now genuinely considered an invasive species in that specific region. This is a genuinely hardy, adaptable species that acclimates quickly and accepts frozen and prepared foods readily, making it a genuinely excellent introduction to the snapper family for those new to keeping large predatory fish. Juveniles genuinely school together, and this species is often recommended to be kept in a small group of three or more for the most impressive natural display, though we want to be honest that some sources note adults can become more solitary and semi-aggressive with age. It's considered reef safe with caution, and will genuinely consume any fish or invertebrate small enough to fit in its mouth.
