🐟 Dragon Blood Peacock Cichlid (Aulonocara sp. hybrid)
Brilliant Display Fish • Active African Cichlid • Selective Hybrid Strain
📋 The Dragon Blood Peacock Cichlid is one of the most popular and striking African cichlid hybrids. Bred selectively from Aulonocara lineages, this strain is admired for its intense red-to-orange body coloration, which becomes even brighter as males mature.
Unlike Mbuna cichlids, Dragon Blood Peacocks are less aggressive and more display-oriented, making them ideal centerpiece fish in larger Malawi tanks. Their semi-aggressive temperament means they should be housed with other Peacocks, Haps, or similarly tempered species in a spacious aquarium with rocky structures.
They are maternal mouthbrooders, and females hold eggs and fry in their mouths, adding unique breeding behavior to their appeal.
