Golden Spotted • Large • Hardy
📋 The Gold Spot Pleco is a large and hardy pleco covered in golden-yellow spots against a dark body, making it one of the most recognizable Amazon plecos. Growing up to 16 inches, this species requires a very large tank, powerful filtration, and open swimming areas.
Like many Pterygoplichthys, it grazes on algae and wood, but also needs vegetables and protein-based foods. It is generally peaceful with fish but becomes territorial toward other plecos as it matures. Long-lived, striking, and hardy, it is a true showpiece pleco for experienced aquarists.
