🐟 Roberts Synodontis (Synodontis robertsi)
Rare Congo Squeaker • One of the Smallest Synodontis • Completely Peaceful

📋 The Roberts Synodontis, also called Roberts' Squeaker or the Large Blotch Synodontis, is a rare, small squeaker catfish known only from the Lukenie River, a tributary of the middle Congo River in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It was only described to science in 1974, and it's one of the prettiest, smallest, and rarest members of the genus, with a maximum of about 10cm.
Unlike many larger Synodontis, it's peaceful toward both its own kind and other fish, which makes it a good choice for a calm community aquarium with similarly peaceful tankmates. Like other squeakers it's omnivorous, accepts all the usual aquarium foods, and can live 10 years or more with good care. Like most Synodontis it appreciates caves, driftwood, and subdued light, and it has sharp pectoral and dorsal spines, so handle with care when netting.
