Despite the trade name, it belongs to a different genus from true Otocinclus: it reaches about 10-10.5cm, roughly double the standard 4-5cm Dwarf Sucker Otocinclus, and it's a hardworking, dedicated grazer of algae and biofilm.

Giant Otos are social, schooling fish that do best in a group of five or more, and like their smaller relatives they thrive in a mature, established tank with natural algae growth. They enjoy a little more flow than standard otos, they're plant-safe, and they're peaceful with calm community fish, though they may occasionally eat very small dwarf shrimp while scavenging.
