Its small, densely packed leaves glow in deep red-to-burgundy tones, and it stays low and bushy, bringing rich colour right down into the foreground and midground where taller red plants won't fit. Planted in tight clusters beside green carpets, it creates a stunning splash of colour in nano tanks, Dutch-style aquascapes and detailed nature layouts.
It's a true underwater plant, so it thrives fully submerged for the long term. Regular trimming keeps it tight and compact, and replanted tops quickly thicken the cluster. Give it good light and steady nutrients, with CO2 if you have it, and its red deepens beautifully.
