🌿 Vallisneria Spiralis (Vallisneria spiralis)
Long, Flowing Ribbon Leaves • Fast-Spreading Background Plant • A Classic Beginner's Favourite
 
📋 Vallisneria Spiralis is one of the classic aquarium plants, loved for its long, slender, bright-green ribbon leaves that sway gracefully in the current. Planted along the back of the tank, it quickly grows into a lush, flowing green wall that creates a natural underwater meadow and gives fish, shrimp and fry plenty of shelter. It's slightly more compact than Jungle Val, making it ideal for medium-sized community tanks, livebearer tanks and nature layouts.
It's hardy, fast-growing and exceptionally easy. Plant it in a nutrient-rich substrate, add root tabs, and it spreads by runners, sending up new daughter plants until it forms a thick, flowing background. It needs no CO2 and grows in low to moderate light.
It's a freshwater plant, suited to freshwater aquariums.
