Care tips:

  • Group size: most chromis (Green, Bicolor, Barrier Reef, Black Bar) do best in groups of 5-6 or more for natural, confident behaviour

  • Schooling reality: in a tank, a dominance hierarchy often forms within the group rather than perfect synchronized schooling, which is normal

  • The exception: the Black & Gold Chromis is a true damselfish, not a Chromis species, and becomes notably territorial as an adult, best kept singly

  • Reef safety: all chromis species are fully reef safe and won't bother corals or invertebrates

  • Tank level: most chromis occupy the upper-to-mid water column, adding constant visible movement to a reef display
