🐠 Green Chromis (Chromis viridis)

Marine Reef-Safe Schooling Fish • Shimmering Green-Blue Display Fish • Active Upper-Level Swimmer • Beginner-Friendly Marine Fish

📋 The Green Chromis (Chromis viridis) is a small, shimmering marine schooling fish prized for its iridescent blue-green colouration, gentle temperament, and constant, lively movement throughout the upper reaches of the reef aquarium.

Native to shallow lagoons and coral-rich reef flats across the Indo-Pacific, Green Chromis are typically found in large, loose aggregations hovering above branching coral, darting in unison to feed on plankton drifting in the current.

Naturally active and social, Green Chromis are among the most peaceful damselfish relatives available in the trade, making them a rare combination of schooling behaviour and genuine reef-safe temperament. Kept in a proper-sized group, their synchronized movement and shifting colour in the light create one of the most visually rewarding schooling displays in a reef tank.

With stable water conditions and peaceful tank mates, they thrive as a Shimmering Schooling Reef Display Fish.
