📋 The Bicolor Chromis, also known as the Half-and-Half Chromis, is a small, hardy schooling fish with a distinctive split colouration, a pale blue front half meeting a darker blue-to-black rear half.
It comes from coral reefs and lagoons across the Indo-Pacific, from the Red Sea and East Africa to the central Pacific, typically found in loose schools hovering above branching coral in shallow water 1-15 metres deep. Every Bicolor Chromis we ship is feeding well.
Naturally peaceful and hardy, this is a popular beginner reef fish thanks to its easy care and a reef safety. Like most Chromis species, the tight, synchronized schooling seen on wild reefs doesn't always carry over perfectly to aquarium life; in the more confined space of a tank, a dominance hierarchy often develops within the group rather than the fish schooling as one continuous unit, which is completely normal. A group of 5 or more still adds much more natural, confident behaviour than a lone fish. It reaches up to 8cm, so a 115L tank suits a small group.
