    Care tips:

    • Tank size: 115–150+ L for standard strains; the true Altum and larger geographic variants need considerably more room and height

    • Temp: 24–28 °C • pH: 6.0–7.5 • Soft to moderate water hardness

    • Diet: Flakes, cichlid pellets, frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp, and daphnia

    • Behavior: Genuinely social as juveniles, best kept in small groups of 5-6 before pairing off; semi-peaceful, territorial when spawning; avoid fin-nipping tank mates
