📋 Bennett's Butterflyfish, also known as the Bluelashed or Eclipse Butterflyfish, has a striking appearance: a bright yellow body with a large black spot bordered in blue below the dorsal fin, a wide black eye stripe edged in blue, and two curved blue lines above the belly.
It comes from a vast range across the Indo-Pacific, from East Africa to the Pitcairn Islands, north to Japan, and south to Lord Howe Island, inhabiting coastal lagoon and reef areas rich in stony coral at depths of 5 to 30 metres. In the wild it feeds almost entirely on stony coral polyps, making it a dedicated specialist, and every Bennett's Butterflyfish we ship is feeding well, trained on live foods and a highly varied diet before it leaves us.
We favour younger specimens for this species, since juveniles tend to acclimate more readily than adults. It's not reef safe, and will consume coral polyps and clams. It reaches up to 20cm, so plan on at least 450L with a live-food feeding plan already in place.
