📋 The Sunset Butterflyfish, also known as the Sunset Butterfly, has a captivating gradient body running from yellow through to deep orange, resembling a sunset, crossed by distinctive diagonal black banding.
It comes from the Western and Central Pacific, inhabiting coral reefs and lagoons. Every Sunset Butterflyfish we ship is feeding well, and live zooplankton or live mussels with crushed shells are a great way to welcome a new arrival, with food pressed into coral skeletons or rockwork helping it settle in further.
It's a peaceful species that revels in swimming and requires ample open space, doing best in a well-established fish-only setup. It's best kept singly unless introduced as a confirmed pair, since unpaired individuals may become territorial toward each other. It's not reef safe, and will consume coral polyps, so it should not be kept in a reef tank with valuable coral you wish to protect. It reaches up to 12cm, so plan on at least 470L.
