🦐 Bloody Mary Neocaridina Shrimp (Neocaridina davidi var. Bloody Mary)
Freshwater Dwarf Shrimp • Peaceful Community Invertebrate • Prolific Breeder • Beginner Friendly Aquarium Shrimp
📋 Description
The Bloody Mary Neocaridina Shrimp (Neocaridina davidi) is a selectively bred colour strain of the popular Cherry Shrimp, prized for an extremely deep, saturated blood-red colouration, more opaque than standard Red Fire strains.
Native to freshwater streams across China and Taiwan, all Neocaridina davidi colour strains — including this one — share identical care requirements regardless of their striking colour differences, since decades of selective breeding have shaped colour without changing the species' underlying hardiness.
Naturally peaceful, active, and easy to keep, Bloody Mary Neocaridina Shrimp spend their time grazing biofilm and algae from plants, rock, and glass, making them a genuinely useful addition to a planted community tank as well as an attractive one. Given stable water conditions, they breed readily and often, making this a rewarding species to watch establish a thriving colony over time.
With stable water parameters and a mature, planted aquarium, they thrive as a Vivid Colour Community Cleanup Invertebrate.
