📋 The Candy Hogfish, also known as the Twospot Candy Hogfish, Twinspot Hogfish, Two Spot Hogfish, Peppermint Hogfish, or Yellow Hogfish, has an elongated, slender body predominantly bright yellow with faint red horizontal stripes, distinguished by two black spots, one behind the eye and another near the tail.
It comes from the Indo-Pacific, including the Maldives and Indonesia, inhabiting coral-rich areas, reef flats, and outer reef slopes, seeking shelter in crevices and overhangs. Every Candy Hogfish we ship is feeding well.
This is a very peaceful species that adjusts quickly to most aquariums, and can be slightly territorial toward its own kind, so multiple specimens should be introduced simultaneously. It's reef safe with caution; once fully grown and established, this species may take a liking to smaller ornamental shrimp introduced afterward. Its diet consists mainly of meaty foods such as vitamin-enriched brine or mysis shrimp, alongside a high-quality marine flake food. It reaches up to 10cm, so a 115L tank suits it well.
