Like the Mandarin Dragonet, this species feeds almost exclusively on tiny live copepods and amphipods in the wild, and genuinely requires an aquarium established for at least 6-8 months with a healthy, thriving pod population before it's introduced. Coaxing this species onto frozen or prepared foods can be genuinely inconsistent, and without an adequate ongoing live food supply, it can slowly waste away even while appearing outwardly healthy. 📋 The Scooter Blenny Dragonet , despite the name, isn't a true blenny at all — it's genuinely a dragonet, and is the very species that gave the wider "scooter blenny" group its common name. It has a genuinely charming mottled brown-and-white body with red highlights, and gets its name from its distinctive locomotion — oversized ventral fins that let it "scoot," hop, and perch its way across the substrate rather than swimming freely.
Native to a genuinely wide range of the Pacific, from southern Japan to the Marquesas Islands, this species inhabits shallow lagoons, sandy reef flats, and rubble zones.
