📋 The Conspicuous Angelfish is widely known among collectors as one of the true "Holy Grail" species in the aquarium trade. It has a spectacular appearance: a body fading from grey on the upper half to near-black below, a striking yellow face, and a bright blue ring encircling each eye that gives the species its name.
It's endemic to reefs around the Great Barrier Reef and Coral Sea in Australia, uncommon even within its limited range, making wild collection difficult and further driving its rarity and price. Every Conspicuous Angelfish we ship is feeding well, and we favour captive-bred stock, which readily acclimates to aquarium life and accepts the full range of prepared foods.
It's reef safe with caution, and will eat fleshy corals, so monitor individual behaviour closely in a mixed reef display. It's an expert-only species that demands real aquarium experience and financial commitment, with some territoriality toward other angelfish. It reaches up to 25cm, so plan on at least 500L, and larger is strongly preferred.
