📋 The Five Band Barb (Desmopuntius pentazona) is a peaceful and beautifully patterned schooling fish often mistaken for the Tiger Barb. It features five solid vertical black bands on a warm golden-bronze body, giving it a more refined and less aggressive appearance than its close relatives.
Native to slow-moving, shaded forest streams in Borneo and Sumatra, these barbs thrive in planted aquariums with soft, slightly acidic water. When kept in groups of six or more, they exhibit natural shoaling behavior and a calm disposition.
