📋 The Golden Tiger Barb is a golden colour morph of the Tiger Barb, a fast schooling barb originally from Sumatra and Borneo. It has a metallic gold-orange body with the same four dark vertical bars as the wild form, though they can look softer on the gold body, and the fins show the usual red-orange edging. It's a constant, active swimmer that loves open space and a planted, well-structured tank.
Tiger barbs are hardy and lively, but they're semi-aggressive fin-nippers, and the golden morph behaves just like the wild-type fish. The key to a happy tank is the right company: they suit active, short-finned tankmates and aren't a match for slow or long-finned fish such as angelfish, bettas, gouramis, and fancy guppies. Keep at least six, and eight to ten if you can, since a larger school keeps the barbs focused on each other.
