📋 The Harlequin Tusk, also known as the Harlequin Tuskfish, has an unmistakable body with bold vertical bands of orange, white, and blue, plus striking neon blue-green facial markings and prominent, protruding blue tusk-like teeth used to crush hard-shelled prey.
It comes from the Western Pacific, particularly northern Australia, inhabiting reef environments to depths of over 30 metres, and loosely forms harems in the wild, with individuals maintaining real personal space between one another. We favour Australian-sourced stock for this species, which arrives healthier and more vividly coloured. Every Harlequin Tusk we ship is feeding well.
This is a hardy, bold species that acclimates well to aquarium life once settled, and despite its intimidating tusks, is generally gentle toward tankmates, though it can be harassed by larger wrasses, angelfish, or triggerfish, so we'd suggest adding it early in your stocking order. It's reef safe with caution; it won't eat coral tissue, but will prey on ornamental shrimp, crabs, snails, worms, and echinoderms, and may occasionally rearrange smaller pieces of décor. It's also a capable jumper, so a secure lid matters, and only one specimen should be kept per tank given its territorial nature toward its own kind. It reaches up to 30cm, so plan on at least 470L.
