📋 The Harlequin Tusk , also known as the Harlequin Tuskfish, has a genuinely unmistakable body with bold vertical bands of orange, white, and blue, plus striking neon blue-green facial markings and prominent, protruding blue tusk-like teeth used to crush hard-shelled prey.
Native to the Western Pacific, particularly northern Australia, this species inhabits reef environments to depths of over 30 metres, and loosely forms harems in the wild, with individuals maintaining genuine personal space between one another.
This is a genuinely hardy, bold species that acclimates well to aquarium life once settled, and despite its intimidating tusks, is generally gentle toward tank mates, though it can be harassed by larger wrasses, angelfish, or triggerfish, so we'd suggest adding it early in your stocking order. It's considered reef safe with caution — it won't eat coral tissue, but will genuinely prey on ornamental shrimp, crabs, snails, worms, and echinoderms, and may occasionally rearrange smaller pieces of décor. We want to be honest that it's also a capable jumper, so a secure lid matters, and only one specimen should be kept per tank given its territorial nature toward its own kind.
