📋 The Deltatail Betta gets its name from a triangular tail shape resembling the Greek letter delta (Δ), with straight caudal fin edges. That straight edge is what separates it from a Veiltail or Roundtail, which have curved edges. A Deltatail's spread reaches up to about 120° when flared, short of the roughly 120-160° of a Super Delta and the full 180° of a Halfmoon.
Deltatails arise from breeding Veiltail and Halfmoon-Plakat lines, and Halfmoon breeding programmes often produce a large share of Deltatails and Super Deltas rather than true Halfmoons, since the wide 180° spread is difficult to breed consistently. As with all bettas, keep it solitary, since males are territorial and must never be housed with another male or similar-looking fish.
