📋 The Majestic Angelfish, also known as the Blue Girdled Angelfish, is a stunning large angelfish, vivid yellow overall with a bold navy-blue "girdle" sweeping across the face and back, edged in pale blue trim. Juveniles look completely different: dark blue with light blue vertical stripes, and begin transforming into the adult pattern at a relatively small size, around 6cm.
It comes from a wide range of the Indo-Pacific, from coral-rich lagoons to protected outer reef slopes, typically found swimming solitary and seen as deep as 35 metres as an adult. Every Majestic Angelfish we ship is feeding well, and we offer small, frequent feedings 4-5 times daily to keep it confident and settled from day one.
It's not reef safe, and will nip at soft and stony corals, sessile invertebrates, and clam mantles, though individual behaviour varies widely, so it's not a species to risk a valuable reef on. It carries a lower opercular (gill cover) spine that can cause injury if entangled in netting, so we always coax it into a container rather than using a net, and recommend the same for any handling at home. It reaches up to 25cm, so plan on at least 475L.
