📋 The Short Body Green Tiger Barb is a selectively bred ornamental morph of the Tiger Barb that combines a deeper, more compact body shape with the green morph's metallic sheen, dark bars beneath the pigment, and orange-red fin accents. It's a constantly moving schooling fish that does best in clean, well-oxygenated water with moderate flow, open swimming lanes, and planting. A darker substrate and soft lighting show off the colour.
Like every tiger barb morph, it's a semi-aggressive fin-nipper and behaves like the standard fish, so the key to a happy tank is the right company: active, short-finned tankmates, and not slow or long-finned fish such as angelfish, bettas, gouramis, and fancy guppies. A school of eight to ten keeps the barbs focused on each other and reduces the nipping. Keep at least six, and eight to ten if you can. Short-bodied morphs are the product of selective breeding, and their compact build suits small, regular portions, which keep this fish in top shape. Standard Tiger Barbs live about 5-7 years, and good care gives this morph its best chance of a long life.
