📋 The Singapore Angelfish, also called the Vermiculated Angelfish, has a striking, unmistakable pattern: blue lips and a yellow nose transitioning abruptly to a black "mask" over the eyes, bordered by a thin yellow band, then a broad white band, with a primarily black body, sapphire-blue-edged dorsal and anal fins, and a yellow, occasionally grey, tail. Its flattened, oval body shape means it's often mistaken for a butterflyfish or a Centropyge dwarf angelfish, though it belongs to a completely separate genus, Chaetodontoplus.
It comes from the Indo-Pacific, from southern Japan to Australia, including Indonesia and the Philippines, inhabiting coral-rich reef areas. Every Singapore Angelfish we ship is robust, actively swimming, and confirmed feeding well before it leaves us, and we offer fresh Caulerpa alongside prepared foods, which it grazes on heavily.
It's not reef safe, and will nip at soft and stony coral polyps, clam mantles, and other sessile invertebrates. It's semi-aggressive, and can be shy on introduction, so a calm start with plenty of hiding places matters. It reaches up to 18cm, so plan on at least 210L, with more recommended for the best long-term outcome.
