⚠️ Important Information — Please Read First

We want to be genuinely upfront on this one. The Warty Anglerfish is a true ambush predator that will eat almost anything small enough to fit in its enormous mouth, including fish and crustaceans close to its own size. It's also genuinely one of the more challenging frogfish to feed — many specimens will only accept live foods initially, and its slow movement means faster tank mates will typically out-compete it for food, so it's best kept alone or fed via target feeding. Please genuinely confirm with our team that a specimen is feeding well, ideally already on frozen foods, before purchasing. We also want to flag a genuinely important handling detail: this species must never be exposed to air during transport or acclimation, as this can be fatal.

📋 The Warty Anglerfish , also known as the Clown Frogfish or Wartskin Frogfish, has a genuinely distinctive lumpy, wart-covered body, with colouration that varies enormously between individuals — cream, yellow, brown, pink, red, or black, often marked with dark circular spots. A full colour change can genuinely take several weeks. A reliable identification tip separates it from the similar Painted Frogfish: a marking that extends to the rear edge of the eye is genuinely unique to this species.

Native to a genuinely wide range across the Indo-West Pacific, from the Maldives and Mauritius to Indonesia, the Philippines, and the Solomon Islands, this species uses a genuinely captivating hunting method — wiggling a small, fish-shaped lure at the tip of its modified dorsal spine to draw prey within striking range.
