🦐 White Spot Anemone Shrimp (Periclimenes brevicarpalis)
Marine Symbiotic Anemone Shrimp • Transparent Glass-Like Body • Peaceful Nano Invertebrate • Beginner-Friendly Marine Shrimp
📋 The White Spot Anemone Shrimp (Periclimenes brevicarpalis), also known as the Glass Anemone Shrimp or Peacock-Tail Anemone Shrimp, is a small, nearly transparent marine shrimp scattered with distinctive white spots and five black-edged orange markings on its tail fin.
Native to reef systems across the Indo-Pacific, including Australia, this species is the most commonly imported of all the anemone shrimps, typically found living directly among the tentacles of host anemones such as Heteractis crispa or Stichodactyla species, as well as occasionally with corals, sea cucumbers, or even jellyfish.
It survives among an anemone's stinging tentacles by coating itself in a protective mucus layer collected from its host — a coat it loses every time it molts, forcing it to briefly retreat and stay nearby while it rebuilds this protection before returning. Interestingly, females tend to grow slightly larger than males and typically display more white spots, and pairs are often found sharing a single host anemone long-term.
With a host anemone or similar shelter and stable reef conditions, it thrives as a Delicate Symbiotic Nano Display Invertebrate.
