Care tips:

  • Feeding: most filefish eat small meals two to three times daily, and the Orange Spotted thrives with a feeding plan in place"

  • Flow: filefish are slow swimmers, so keep water flow gentle and cover powerheads and overflows

  • Reef safety: most are reef safe only with caution, and may nip corals or eat small invertebrates, so watch them in a reef

  • Tankmates: choose peaceful, non-nipping companions, and keep just one of each species in most tanks

  • Tank size: from about 115L for most species to 280L or more for the Tasselled Filefish
