We want to be genuinely direct on this one, because we believe honesty matters more than a sale. In the wild, this species is an obligate corallivore, feeding almost exclusively on a single coral species, Acropora millepora. This is genuinely one of the most demanding diets to replicate in captivity, and historically this species has had a poor survival record in home aquariums. We want to be honest that pioneering hobbyist work has genuinely shown that some individuals can be carefully weaned onto prepared foods like mysis and enriched brine shrimp, but this transition is genuinely difficult, not guaranteed, and best attempted only by expert-level aquarists with live coral available as a safety net throughout the process. Please only consider this species with a serious, concrete feeding plan already in place.
 
📋 The Orange Spotted Filefish, also known as the Harlequin Filefish, has a genuinely striking pale blue-green body covered in numerous small orange spots, with an elongated, tubular snout adapted for reaching into coral branches.
Native to a genuinely wide range across the Indo-Pacific, this species inhabits coral-rich areas of protected lagoons at shallow depths, hiding among the very Acropora colonies it depends on.
This is a genuinely slow-moving, shy species that does poorly with fin-nipping or fast, competitive tank mates, and should never be kept with swift water movement, which it finds genuinely stressful. We want to be honest that even once weaned onto prepared foods, it may still occasionally peck at SPS corals such as Acropora, and while it can't consume coral flesh directly, this pecking behaviour can genuinely stress or damage a coral frag. This species should be the only filefish of its kind in the tank.
