We want to be genuinely upfront on this one. Unlike most tropical marine fish, this species is native to the genuinely cooler waters of the Gulf of California, and it needs noticeably lower temperatures to live a full, comfortable life — a dedicated chiller is genuinely often necessary, especially through warmer months. This species is also genuinely a capable jumper, so a fully secure, gap-free lid is essential.
 
📋 The Blue Spotted Jawfish , also known as the Blue Dot Jawfish or Rosenblatt's Jawfish, has a genuinely striking dark brownish-yellow to orange body covered in bright, irregularly-shaped electric-blue spots, with an elegant yellow dorsal fin and the comical, bulbous head typical of jawfish.
Native to the Gulf of California, this species inhabits sandy reef areas at depths of roughly 9 to 27 metres, where it constructs a burrow it seals completely at night, rebuilding the entrance again each morning — genuinely often using a small shell as a makeshift door.
A genuinely charming detail: mature males signal reproductive readiness by turning the rear portion of their body white. It's fully reef safe, and more than one specimen can genuinely be kept together in a sufficiently large tank once territories are established, though we want to be honest that this species is also genuinely susceptible to Brooklynellosis, a fast-acting disease, so careful acclimation and quarantine matter.
