We want to be genuinely upfront on this one. Like most triggerfish, this species is genuinely assertive and should only be housed with robust tank mates that won't be seen as prey — never with small fish or crustaceans. It's also genuinely known to actively rearrange rockwork and substrate, so please ensure any aquascape is securely built.
 
📋 The Bursa Triggerfish , also known as the Blackbelly Triggerfish or Black Patch Triggerfish, has a genuinely distinctive light brown body with a white belly, a horizontal red stripe at mid-body, a tan vertical stripe below the eyes, and a bold black circular patch near the anal fin.
Native to a genuinely wide range across the Indo-Pacific, from the Chagos Archipelago through Indonesia to the Solomon Islands, this species is genuinely uncommon in the aquarium trade compared to some other Rhinecanthus triggerfish.
A genuinely fun natural behaviour: this species can produce an audible grunting sound, and is known to blow water to flip urchins and expose prey hiding beneath rock and rubble. It's considered reef safe with caution — it may occasionally nip at corals or invertebrates, so genuine monitoring matters. This species genuinely needs regular access to hard-shelled foods to help wear down its continuously growing teeth, and can lose colour intensity if not fed adequately.
