We want to be genuinely direct on this one. This species is genuinely the largest triggerfish found within the marine aquarium hobby, reaching up to 75cm (around 30") in the wild, and is genuinely considered one of the most dangerous fish species to keep, fully capable of biting and injuring its keeper. Expert sources genuinely recommend an enormous aquarium of at least 300-500 gallons for an adult, with some genuinely suggesting 1000 gallons or more if housing alongside other very large, aggressive species. This species is genuinely infamous among scuba divers for attacking those who approach its nesting territory, and this same intense aggression genuinely carries over into captivity. Caretakers should keep their hands entirely out of the aquarium, and this species is only appropriate for genuinely expert-level aquarists with a species-only or carefully matched large setup.
 
📋 The Titan Triggerfish has a genuinely bold, tricolored body in yellowish-green to grey-green tones with dark scale margins forming a reticulated pattern, a distinctive dark band across the eyes, and a prominent chin area resembling a moustache. Juveniles are genuinely more brightly patterned with bolder yellow tones, which is when they're most commonly offered for sale.
Native to the Indo-Pacific, from the Red Sea and East Africa through northern Australia to the Line and Tuamotu Islands, and north to southern Japan, this species inhabits lagoons and reef slopes.
We want to be honest that this is genuinely an apex predator in its natural habitat, and brings this same predatory intensity into the aquarium. It's genuinely also a real personable, inquisitive, and intelligent fish for keepers with an appropriately sized system. We want to be upfront: this species is not reef safe, and will genuinely rearrange rocks and substrate, so all décor must be genuinely secured to prevent damage or collapse.
