📋 The Picasso Triggerfish, also known as the Humuhumu or Humuhumunukunukuāpuaʻa Triggerfish, Lagoon Triggerfish, or Blackbar Triggerfish, has a genuinely striking tan body marked with bold blue and black stripes running vertically and diagonally, plus a large yellow stripe across the cheek.
Native to a genuinely wide range across the Indo-Pacific, including Hawaii, Tahiti, Kiribati, and the Philippines, this species inhabits shallow lagoon and reef environments.
This is a genuinely characterful, outgoing species that will learn to recognise its keeper over time, often begging for food when its owner is near. We want to be honest that it's less aggressive than many other triggerfish species, but is still genuinely aggressive, and its temperament will noticeably heighten as it matures. We want to be upfront: this species is not reef safe, and will genuinely eat ornamental crustaceans, snails, and mollusks, and may damage corals. It should be the only trigger in the tank, given ample swimming room and hiding spaces of its own.
