🐟 Harlequin Shark (Labeo cyclorhynchus)
🐟 Harlequin Shark (Labeo cyclorhynchus)
A Bold Marbled Patchwork Pattern • A Rare African Mini-Shark • A Characterful Bottom Grazer
📋 The Harlequin Shark, also known as the Harlequin Sharkminnow, carries a striking marbled pattern of dark chocolate and cream patches, like a harlequin's costume, with no two fish quite alike. Its sleek, shark-like body and tall dorsal fin make it a rare and eye-catching alternative to the more familiar Asian sharks.
It comes from the Congo River basin of Central Africa. Every Harlequin Shark we ship is feeding well.
This is a confident, characterful fish that patrols the lower levels of the tank, grazing algae and biofilm from rocks and driftwood with its soft, sucker-like lips. It claims its own patch of the tank, so it's best kept as a single shark with lively mid-to-upper level tankmates. It grows up to 15cm, so a 200L tank suits it well.
