⚠️ Important Information — Please Read First

We want to be completely honest with you on this one. The Clown Tang is widely regarded as one of the most aggressive and genuinely challenging tangs in the hobby. It's territorial toward other tangs and can become a real bully toward other fish in a tank that's too small or lacking enough space and structure, and like several other Acanthurus tangs it's genuinely prone to disease and stress-related illness if its very demanding water flow and space requirements aren't met. In the wild it lives in the shallow, wave-battered surge zones of outer reef crests — conditions that are genuinely difficult to replicate at home, and which matter far more for this species than for most other tangs. This is not a species for a first marine tank or an average reef setup; please only consider it if you already have a very large, mature, high-flow aquarium and real experience with demanding tangs.

📋 The Clown Tang (Acanthurus lineatus), also known as the Lined or Striped Surgeonfish, is one of the most vividly patterned tangs available, with a body striped in electric blue and black lines against a yellow-orange background, and a bright yellow tail.

Native to shallow, current-swept reef crests across the Indo-Pacific, from the Red Sea to French Polynesia, this species thrives in turbulent, highly oxygenated water — conditions that are hard to fully recreate but genuinely important for long-term success.
