🐠 Desjardini Sailfin Tang (Zebrasoma desjardinii)

Marine Reef-Safe Large Grazing Tang • Dramatic Sail-Like Dorsal & Anal Fins • Genuinely One of the Largest Zebrasoma Species • Advanced Marine Fish

📋 The Desjardini Sailfin Tang , also known as the Red Sea Sailfin Tang or Indian Ocean Sailfin Tang, is genuinely recognised for its towering dorsal and anal fins and an intricate pattern of yellow, blue, white, grey, and dark vertical markings — when fully extended, these fins create the dramatic sail-like profile that gives the species its common name.

Native to the Indian Ocean, from the Red Sea and East Africa eastward to the Andaman Sea and parts of Southeast Asia, this species inhabits lagoon and seaward reef environments, spending much of the day grazing algae from rock and reef surfaces.

Adults can genuinely reach up to 40cm (16"), making this one of the largest members of the Zebrasoma genus. It's fully reef safe and a genuinely valuable, constant algae grazer, though we want to be honest that it may occasionally nip at soft corals or sessile invertebrates if not fed adequately. It's genuinely semi-aggressive and territorial toward other tangs, particularly similarly shaped species, so it's best added toward the end of your stocking order or kept as the only tang in the tank.
