📋 The Desjardini Sailfin Tang, also known as the Red Sea Sailfin Tang or Indian Ocean Sailfin Tang, is known for its towering dorsal and anal fins and an intricate pattern of yellow, blue, white, grey, and dark vertical markings; when fully extended, these fins create the dramatic sail-like profile that gives the species its common name.
It comes from the Indian Ocean, from the Red Sea and East Africa eastward to the Andaman Sea and parts of Southeast Asia, inhabiting lagoon and seaward reef environments, spending much of the day grazing algae from rock and reef surfaces. Every Desjardini Sailfin Tang we ship is feeding well.
Adults can reach up to 40cm, making this one of the largest members of the Zebrasoma genus. It's fully reef safe and a valuable, constant algae grazer, hardy once established and a popular choice for large reef tanks. It's territorial toward other tangs, particularly similarly shaped species, so it's best added toward the end of your stocking order or kept as the only tang in the tank. It reaches up to 40cm, so plan on at least 900L.
