🐠 Green Wolf Eel (Congrogadus subducens)

Marine Not-Reef-Safe Elongated Predator • Brown-Green Body With Light Spots • Genuinely Not a True Eel, Moray, or Blenny — a Real Dottyback • Advanced Marine Fish

📋 We want to be genuinely upfront about identification: despite its common name, the Green Wolf Eel is genuinely not a true eel, moray, or blenny at all — it's actually a member of the dottyback family (Pseudochromidae), with a genuinely elongated, eel-like body shape that leads to its various common names, also including Carpet Eel Blenny, Eared Eel Blenny, and Green Moray Eel.

📋 The Green Wolf Eel has a genuinely light green to brown body marked with small white spots, and can appear noticeably lighter in colour depending on the surroundings or time of day.

Native to the Indo-Pacific, this species inhabits rocky and coral reef environments, and is genuinely long-lived and well suited to a well-established home aquarium given appropriate care.

A genuinely important growth detail: while typically sold at around 12 inches, this species can genuinely reach up to 3 feet (roughly 90cm) as an adult, so please plan tank size accordingly from the outset. We want to be upfront: this species is not reef safe, given both its natural burrowing behaviour and its genuine predatory diet, which includes smaller fish and crustaceans. It requires a genuinely spacious tank with an abundance of rockwork for hiding, and a tight-fitting lid, as it's a capable escape artist.
