⚠️ Important Information — Please Read First

We want to be genuinely upfront on this one. This species has a genuinely painful bite, delivered from a powerful jaw with long, sharp, inward-curving teeth — never hand-feed, and always use tongs. It's also a genuinely accomplished escape artist, so an absolutely secure, tight-fitting lid is essential, and it's genuinely powerful enough to dislodge rockwork, so please ensure everything is securely placed.

📋 The Jeweled Moray Eel, also known as the Jewel Moray, has a genuinely striking dark purple-brown to mottled body, covered in contrasting white-to-yellow spots and blotches, often outlined in darker borders, giving it a distinctive "jewelled" appearance. Juveniles are genuinely brown with gold spots, developing into the darker adult colouration over time.

Native to the Eastern Pacific, from the Gulf of California through Central America, this species is genuinely a real geographic outlier compared to most of our Indo-Pacific stock, and is one of the smaller moray species available in the hobby.

This is a genuinely hardy, popular species that adapts readily to aquarium life without needing the vast space larger morays require. We want to be honest that it's genuinely highly aggressive, and a nocturnal ambush predator that will learn to feed during the day in captivity. We want to be upfront: this species is not reef safe, and will genuinely eat any fish, crustacean, or even other eel that it can swallow. It should be kept singly in most home aquariums.
