⚠️ Important Information — Please Read First

We want to be genuinely upfront on this one. This species genuinely grows up to 40cm (16"), and multiple expert sources genuinely recommend a very large tank, ranging from 180 up to 250+ gallons, with at least 6-8 feet of straight open swimming space. We want to be honest that this is genuinely one of the most aggressive tangs available in the hobby, and it should genuinely be the very last fish introduced to a tank, ideally kept as the sole tang, since it will be aggressive toward other Acanthurus species and similarly shaped surgeonfish in particular.

📋 The Sohal Tang, also known as the Sohal Surgeonfish or Arabian Tang, has a genuinely striking grey-to-blue body with bold black-and-white striping across the head and midsection, black fins edged in bright blue, and bright yellow-orange pectoral fins and a caudal peduncle stripe.

Native to the Red Sea and the Western Indian Ocean, this species is genuinely a Red Sea endemic across much of its range, inhabiting exposed reef flats and areas with strong water movement.

This is a genuinely uncharacteristically hardy tang, and despite its aggressive temperament, it's fully reef safe, not preying upon healthy corals, clams, ornamental shrimp, or other common reef invertebrates. We want to be honest that its natural diet is genuinely mostly algae-based, and it uses a sharp scalpel near the caudal fin for defence, which can genuinely cause deep lacerations, so care should be taken when handling.
