🐟 Bloodfin Tetra (Aphyocharax anisitsi)
A Semi-Transparent Silvery-Green Body With Vivid Red Fins • Genuinely Cold-Tolerant, Unusual for a Tetra • A Long-Lived, Hardy Classic Often Overlooked
📋 The Bloodfin Tetra, also known as the Red Fin Tetra or Glass Bloodfin Tetra, has a semi-transparent, silvery-green body lit up by vivid red colouration on the anal and tail fins, a classic look that gives the species its name.
It comes from the Paraná River basin in South America, across Argentina, Paraguay, and parts of Brazil and Bolivia. Every Bloodfin Tetra we ship is feeding well.
This is a genuinely underrated species, hardy, long-lived, and notably cold-tolerant for a tetra, able to handle a wider temperature range than most tropical species. It's a peaceful, active surface feeder, schooling confidently in a proper group of 6 or more. It reaches up to 5cm, so a 75L tank suits a school well.
