🐟 Buenos Aires Tetra (Hyphessobrycon anisitsi)

A Silver Body With Red Fin Accents and a Bold Black Tail Marking • One of the Larger, Hardiest Tetras in the Hobby • Exceptionally Wide Temperature Tolerance, Even Cold-Tolerant

This species is a known, dedicated live-plant eater, so plastic or silk alternatives are the safer choice for this tank rather than a heavily planted aquascape.

📋 The Buenos Aires Tetra has a silver body with red accents on the caudal, anal, and dorsal fins, finished with a bold, black cross-shaped marking at the base of the tail.

It comes from the La Plata River system across Argentina, southeastern Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay, a range that sits just outside the tropics. Every Buenos Aires Tetra we ship is feeding well.

This is one of the larger, hardiest tetras in the hobby, with an exceptionally wide temperature tolerance, genuinely cold-tolerant compared to most tropical tetras. It's an active, fast, boisterous swimmer, best kept in a proper school of 8 or more to spread out any fin-nipping tendencies, and long-finned tankmates are best avoided. It reaches up to 8cm, so a 115L tank with real open space suits a school well.
