We want to be genuinely direct on this one. This species is genuinely one of the most territorial and aggressive tangs in the aquarium trade, both toward other tangs and, at times, toward other fish encroaching on its space. It genuinely needs a large, spacious tank and should be one of the last fish added. Please also handle with care — the caudal spine is genuinely reported to carry mild venom, in addition to being physically very sharp.
 
📋 The Blue Lined Surgeonfish , also known as the Lined Surgeonfish, Clown Surgeonfish, Pyjama Tang, or Zebra Surgeonfish, has a genuinely dazzling body pattern of alternating black-edged yellow and blue horizontal stripes, among the most striking colour patterns of any tang.
Native to a genuinely wide range across the Indo-Pacific, this species inhabits shallow, wave-exposed reef flats and rocky substrates, where it's genuinely highly territorial, aggressively defending patches of algae from other grazing fish.
It's fully reef safe and a genuinely excellent algae grazer, but we want to be honest: given its territorial nature and eventual large size, it's best suited to spacious, well-established tanks with experienced keepers, and should be the only tang present in most home aquarium setups.
