📋 The Colombian Tetra, also known as the Blue-Red Colombian Tetra, has a striking silver-blue iridescent body paired with vivid red fins and a notably tall, prominent dorsal fin, a real standout against the typical small schooling tetra.
It comes from a single river system, the Rio Acandí on the Atlantic coast of northern Colombia near the Panama border, a genuinely restricted natural range for such a popular aquarium fish. Every Colombian Tetra we ship is feeding well.
This is one of the larger, boldest tetras available, noticeably more confident than smaller schooling species like neons or cardinals, and it isn't shy about competing for food, even from larger tankmates. It's hardy and adaptable, doing best in a school of 6-10 or more in a well-planted aquarium with some open swimming space. It reaches up to 7cm, so a 115L tank suits a school well.
