🐟 Green Scat (Scatophagus argus — green colour form)

Brackish-to-Marine Schooling Fish • Please Read First — Genuinely Venomous Fin Spines

⚠️ Please Read First

All Scats, including this green colour form, genuinely have venom glands at the base of their dorsal, anal, and pelvic fin spines. A sting is genuinely described as similar to a bee sting but more potent — not life-threatening, but a real reason to handle this fish carefully during netting, bagging, or tank maintenance.

📋 The Green Scat is a colour form of the Spotted Scat, with a green-bronze body shimmer accented by dark spots and irregular blotches, distinct from the brighter Silver and Red Scat forms we also carry — all three are genuinely the same species. Juveniles tolerate low-end brackish or even freshwater conditions temporarily, but adults genuinely need brackish-to-full-marine salinity for long-term health; kept in freshwater as adults, they grow poorly and develop ongoing health problems.

Scats are genuinely social, active schoolers, best kept in a group of six or more for natural behaviour and to reduce stress-related aggression. They're hardy once properly set up and can live for many years.
