🐟 Longfin Serpae Tetra (Hyphessobrycon eques)
🐟 Longfin Serpae Tetra (Hyphessobrycon eques (longfin variety))
The Same Vivid Blood-Red Body as the Classic Serpae Tetra • Selectively Bred for Dramatically Longer, Flowing Fins • Best in a Larger Group for Natural Behaviour
📋 The Longfin Serpae Tetra is a selectively bred variety of the classic Serpae Tetra, retaining the same vivid blood-red body and bold black shoulder spot, paired with dramatically longer, flowing fins.
It comes from the same captive-bred lines as the standard Serpae Tetra, originally native to the Amazon Basin in South America. Every Longfin Serpae Tetra we ship is feeding well.
This is an active, semi-peaceful species, best kept in a larger group of 6 or more, which spreads out its natural fin-nipping tendencies and keeps the school calmer overall. With a proper-sized school and stable water conditions, it makes a striking schooling centrepiece in any community aquarium. It reaches 4-5cm, so a 75L tank suits a school well.
