A note on naming: many fish sold as "Rosy Tetra" in the hobby are actually the closely related Hyphessobrycon bentosi, a historical mix-up between the two similar species. Our Rosy Tetra is specifically the true Hyphessobrycon rosaceus.
 
📋 The Rosy Tetra has a soft, pink-to-rose body with tall, elegant dorsal and anal fins, a delicate and elegant presence in a planted community tank.
It comes from Guyana, Suriname, and Brazil, specifically the Rio Essequibo, Rio Corantijn, and Rio Suriname river systems, inhabiting slow tributaries stained brown with tannins. Every Rosy Tetra we ship is feeding well.
This is a remarkably adaptable, peaceful schooling species, genuinely easy to care for and well suited to beginners. It shows its best colour and confidence in a proper school of 6-8 or more, alongside other peaceful South American species such as other Hyphessobrycon, pencilfish, and Corydoras. It reaches 3.5-4cm, so a 70L tank suits a school well.
