📋 The Ambon Scorpionfish (Pteroidichthys amboinensis), also known as Godfrey's Scorpionfish, is an extraordinary-looking ambush predator covered in leafy, plant-like appendages and elongated pectoral fins that allow it to disappear almost completely against algae-covered rock and rubble.
Native to reef flats and rocky substrates across the Indo-Pacific, from the Red Sea through Indonesia to Japan and Fiji, this solitary species spends most of its time motionless, waiting for prey to wander within striking range before ambushing it in an instant.
