📋 The Ambon Scorpionfish, also known as Godfrey's Scorpionfish, is an extraordinary-looking ambush predator covered in leafy, plant-like appendages and elongated pectoral fins that let it disappear almost completely against algae-covered rock and rubble. It's native to reef flats and rocky substrates across the Indo-Pacific, from the Red Sea through Indonesia to Japan and Fiji, and it spends most of its time motionless, waiting for prey to wander within striking range before ambushing it in an instant.
It's a specialist fish for advanced keepers. Like all scorpionfish, its dorsal spines are venomous: a sting is very painful, with moderate to severe effects, though fatalities from scorpionfish are very rare. Long tools and tongs keep tank maintenance and feeding safe, and your hands well away from the fish. Every Ambon Scorpionfish we ship is feeding well, usually starting on live feeder shrimp or small fish before moving on to frozen foods, and it's rare and not always available.
